AZNZINE is an online magazine dedicated to uplifting and empowering Asian creators across the globe.
I joined the AZNZINE team as the Head of Design in October 2020. As part of this position, I occasionally create color palettes and cover designs for each issue and assist in designing spreads as well as social media posts. Below are some of my favorite pieces I've come up with since joining the team!

In each issue, we include a recipe spread and a letter from the executive board. Both spreads here were featured in our second issue, Next Chapter, discussing what the past, present, and future mean to us.

Each spread in this section includes illustrations that I drew myself as well as my own handwriting!

The top couple of images are the completed spreads and the bottom image is a scan of my notes/sketches for the recipe spread!

Our fourth issue, titled Allies, discusses the overarching concept of allyship, what it means to us as a team, and how it is translated in our everyday lives.

After creating the color palette, I brainstormed a variety of styles that would best reflect the theme and knew I wanted to aim for something that looked more graphic (not in a yucky way.) When it comes to designing covers of anything, I usually like to sketch it out first before diving straight into Illustrator in order to declutter my brain. However, this one just seemed to organize itself the moment I created the document.

Almost resembling a poster, I ended up with a cover that was very "modern-comic book" with varying panels, quotes, and shapes.
